DJ Transport & Rentals – Vehicle Hire Terms & Conditions

Website: djtransportrentals.com.au

Quick Bookings: 0411 681 788 / 0484 582 476

By making a booking or hiring a vehicle from DJ Transport & Rentals, the hirer agrees to the following Terms and Conditions.

1. Booking & Reservation Fee

A $50 booking reservation fee is required to secure your vehicle and booking dates.

The $50 reservation fee is not an additional charge. It will be deducted from the total vehicle hire/rental fee payable by the customer.

For example, if the total hire fee is $500 and you have already paid the $50 reservation fee, the remaining hire amount will be $450.

A vehicle is not considered fully reserved until the required booking reservation fee has been received and the booking has been confirmed by DJ Transport & Rentals.

2. Cancellation Policy

If you cancel your booking more than 24 hours before the scheduled pickup time, the $50 reservation fee will be fully refundable.

If you cancel within 24 hours of the scheduled pickup time, the $50 reservation fee will be non-refundable because the vehicle has been reserved and unavailable for other bookings.

If DJ Transport & Rentals is unable to provide the booked vehicle and a suitable alternative cannot be agreed upon, any reservation fee or rental amount already paid for the unavailable booking will be refunded.

3. Security Bond

A $400 refundable security bond is required for vehicle hire unless otherwise agreed in writing.

The bond is separate from the rental charge.

The bond will be fully refunded after the vehicle has been returned and reasonably inspected, provided there are no outstanding amounts relating to the hire.

Where applicable, reasonable amounts may be deducted from the bond for:

  • unpaid toll charges relating to the rental period;
  • unpaid rental charges;
  • additional kilometre charges;
  • fuel replacement where the vehicle is returned below the agreed fuel level;
  • damage attributable to the hirer during the rental period;
  • excessive cleaning required because of the condition in which the vehicle is returned;
  • missing keys, accessories or equipment supplied with the vehicle; and
  • other amounts properly payable by the hirer under the rental agreement.

Any remaining bond balance will be refunded as soon as reasonably practicable after the vehicle has been inspected and outstanding charges have been determined.

If a toll or other customer responsibility is notified to DJ Transport & Rentals after the bond has already been refunded, the hirer remains responsible for that amount and may be invoiced separately.

4. Kilometre Options

DJ Transport & Rentals offers two kilometre packages.

Option A – 200 KM Per Day

The customer receives an allowance of 200 kilometres per rental day.

For example:

  • 1 day = 200 km
  • 2 days = 400 km
  • 4 days = 800 km
  • 7 days = 1,400 km

Any distance travelled above the total included kilometre allowance will be charged at:

$0.25 per additional kilometre.

The total kilometres are calculated using the vehicle's odometer at pickup and return.

Option B – Unlimited Kilometres

Customers may select an Unlimited Kilometre package where offered.

The rental price for unlimited kilometres will be confirmed before the booking is finalised.

“Unlimited kilometres” means there is no per-kilometre charge for ordinary permitted use during the agreed rental period. All other Terms and Conditions continue to apply.

5. Rental Charges

The applicable daily, weekly or agreed rental rate will be confirmed before the booking is accepted.

Any mandatory charges applicable to the booking will be disclosed to the customer before the rental is confirmed.

The $50 reservation fee forms part of the total rental price and is not added on top of the agreed rental price.

6. Driver Requirements

The vehicle may only be driven by a driver who:

  • holds a current and valid driver's licence appropriate for the vehicle;
  • is legally permitted to drive in Australia;
  • has been approved by DJ Transport & Rentals where approval is required; and
  • complies with any licence conditions applying to them.

The hirer must not allow an unauthorised, unlicensed, suspended or disqualified driver to operate the vehicle.

International licence holders may be required to provide their overseas licence together with an International Driving Permit or an acceptable English translation where required by Australian law.

DJ Transport & Rentals may request identification and licence documents before handing over the vehicle.

Pickup Location

Unless otherwise agreed in writing, the standard vehicle pickup and handover location for DJ Transport & Rentals is:

Wentworthville NSW 2145

The exact pickup address and handover instructions will be provided to the customer after the booking is confirmed.

Customers must arrive at the agreed pickup time. If you are running late, please contact us as soon as possible on 0411 681 788 or 0484 582 476.

Alternative pickup, delivery or return locations may be available by prior arrangement and may incur an additional fee depending on the distance and booking requirements.

7. Vehicle Condition at Pickup

Customers are encouraged to inspect the vehicle before departure.

Any existing scratches, dents, marks or other visible damage should be recorded before the vehicle is driven away.

DJ Transport & Rentals may photograph or video the vehicle at pickup and return to record its condition.

The hirer may also take their own photographs or videos.

8. Vehicle Return

The vehicle must be returned:

  • on the agreed date;
  • at the agreed time;
  • to the agreed return location; and
  • in substantially the same condition as at pickup, allowing for reasonable wear and tear.

If you expect to return the vehicle late, you should contact DJ Transport & Rentals as soon as possible.

Unauthorised late returns may result in additional rental charges based on the applicable hire rate. Any applicable late-return charges will be communicated reasonably and will reflect the additional period of use.

9. Fuel

The vehicle must normally be returned with the same fuel level as recorded at pickup unless another arrangement has been agreed.

If the vehicle is returned with less fuel, the reasonable cost of replacing the missing fuel may be deducted from the bond or invoiced to the hirer.

Customers must use the correct fuel type for the vehicle.

Damage caused by knowingly or negligently filling the vehicle with the incorrect fuel may be the responsibility of the hirer.

10. Tolls

All tolls incurred while the vehicle is in the customer's possession are the responsibility of the hirer.

Applicable toll charges may be:

  • deducted from the security bond;
  • charged separately; or
  • invoiced to the customer if the toll information is received after the bond has been refunded.

Only tolls attributable to the customer's rental period will be charged to the customer.

11. Traffic & Parking Infringements

The hirer is responsible for parking infringements, speeding offences, traffic infringements and other offences arising from their use of the vehicle.

Where legally required, DJ Transport & Rentals may provide the relevant authority with the hirer's details so that an infringement can be transferred or nominated to the responsible driver.

The customer remains responsible for infringements relating to their rental period even if the notice is received after the vehicle has been returned.

12. Accidents & Vehicle Damage

If the vehicle is involved in an accident, the hirer must:

  1. stop safely;
  2. contact emergency services where required;
  3. obtain the details of all other drivers and parties involved;
  4. obtain photographs and relevant evidence where reasonably possible;
  5. obtain witness details where available;
  6. notify DJ Transport & Rentals as soon as reasonably possible; and
  7. cooperate with any reasonable insurance or accident-reporting requirements.

The hirer must not abandon the vehicle without first contacting DJ Transport & Rentals unless an emergency makes this impossible.

The customer's financial responsibility for accidental damage, insurance excess or other damage-related costs will depend on the circumstances, insurance arrangements and the rental agreement applicable to the booking. Any applicable insurance excess or important exclusions should be disclosed before the vehicle is handed over.

Nothing in these Terms removes any rights available to the customer under Australian Consumer Law.

13. Breakdown or Mechanical Problem

If the vehicle develops a mechanical problem, warning light, puncture or other significant issue, the customer should contact DJ Transport & Rentals as soon as possible.

Except in an emergency, the hirer should not authorise major repairs to the vehicle without prior approval.

Customers will not be held responsible for mechanical failure caused by normal wear and tear or a pre-existing defect that was not caused by the hirer's misuse or negligence.

14. Prohibited Use

The vehicle must not be:

  • used for racing, speed testing or motorsport;
  • used for any illegal purpose;
  • driven by an unauthorised or unlicensed driver;
  • intentionally overloaded beyond its legal passenger or load capacity;
  • used to carry dangerous or illegal goods;
  • used to tow another vehicle or trailer without prior permission where approval is required;
  • driven while the driver is affected by alcohol or drugs;
  • deliberately or recklessly driven in a manner likely to damage the vehicle;
  • used off-road or on unsuitable roads in circumstances likely to cause damage, unless specifically approved; or
  • sub-rented or hired to another person without permission from DJ Transport & Rentals.

The hirer must comply with Australian road rules at all times.

15. Smoking, Vaping & Cleanliness

Smoking and vaping inside the rental vehicle are not permitted unless DJ Transport & Rentals has expressly agreed otherwise.

Vehicles should be returned in a reasonably clean condition.

Normal everyday cleaning is not charged to the customer. However, where additional professional cleaning is reasonably required because of excessive dirt, stains, smoke, spills, rubbish or similar contamination caused during the rental, the reasonable cleaning cost may be charged.

16. Keys & Accessories

All keys, remote controls and accessories provided with the vehicle must be returned.

The hirer may be responsible for the reasonable replacement or repair cost of keys, remotes or accessories lost or damaged during the rental period.

17. Personal Belongings

Customers are responsible for removing their belongings when returning the vehicle.

DJ Transport & Rentals will take reasonable care of any lost property found in a returned vehicle but cannot guarantee the recovery of items left behind.

18. Extension of Rental

Customers wishing to extend their rental must contact DJ Transport & Rentals before the original return time.

An extension is subject to vehicle availability and confirmation from DJ Transport & Rentals.

Additional rental charges will apply for the extended period at the rate agreed with the customer.

Keeping the vehicle beyond the agreed rental period without contacting DJ Transport & Rentals may constitute an unauthorised extension of the hire.

19. Customer Responsibility

During the hire period, the customer must take reasonable care of the vehicle.

This includes:

  • locking the vehicle when unattended;
  • safeguarding the keys;
  • complying with road and parking rules;
  • not deliberately or negligently damaging the vehicle;
  • ensuring only authorised drivers use the vehicle; and
  • contacting DJ Transport & Rentals if a serious warning light, mechanical issue or accident occurs.

20. Australian Consumer Law

Nothing in these Terms and Conditions is intended to exclude, restrict or modify any consumer guarantee, right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.

Where Australian Consumer Law provides the customer with rights or remedies that conflict with these Terms, those statutory rights and remedies will apply.

21. Changes to a Confirmed Booking

Any material changes to the rental price, dates, vehicle, kilometre package or other important booking terms must be agreed between the customer and DJ Transport & Rentals.

The booking confirmation together with these Terms and Conditions forms part of the rental agreement.

22. Acceptance of Terms

By paying the reservation fee, confirming the booking, signing a rental agreement or taking possession of the vehicle, the hirer confirms that they have been given an opportunity to read and understand these Terms and Conditions.

The customer should contact DJ Transport & Rentals before booking if they require clarification regarding any condition.
